Freedom Day Team

Ryan began his investment career at Smith Barney in 1996. He earned the role of Senior Portfolio Manager where he worked until it became Citigroup, the largest bank/brokerage firm in the world. He lovingly and gratefully owes his start and only role in ten years, to an amazing firm at the time.

But he escaped Wall Street in 2006, for one simple reason. He kept a sacred oath to anybody who trusted him to always serve their families exactly as he did his own. To communicate and invest without barriers or conflicts of interest, he and his partner launched an independent money management firm where those families are still served today.

After obtaining her MBA, Courtney began her career as an internal auditor. In February 2009, she transitioned to wealth management and joined the firm her dad founded, Ranstrom Berg Wealth Management. Courtney started at the bottom, learning every part of the business, and worked her way up to co-owner and financial planner. In 2016, Courtney co-founded Trailhead Planners with her brother, Morgan. They focused on tax-smart financial planning and investment management for business owners and legacy-minded retirees.

Courtney joined Freedom Day in 2026. Courtney works with partners to align their priorities (family, education, work, philanthropy, travel, retirement) with their resources (money, time, energy). She loves taking difficult topics, breaking them down into smaller pieces, and working through them with partners so they feel empowered to make the best decisions for themselves and their families.

Courtney Ranstrom

Chief Financial Officer & Director of Financial Planning

After graduating from the University of Texas at Austin, Kyi Kyi began her career at American Express Financial Advisors in 1999, as a licensed assistant for one of the top advisors in the country. While working full time and gaining invaluable experience in the investment industry, she obtained her MBA from the University of Houston in 2004 and decided to pursue a career with an independent firm.

She’s spent the last two decades, including almost ten years with Ryan and Mike, serving both advisors and clients while managing teams that include operations, client service and compliance.
